A Lifetime ofDiscovering Iraq
I was born in Najaf and raised in Baghdad, in a family that has called Mesopotamia home for generations. As a child, I would wander through the ancient streets of my city, mesmerized by the layers of history visible at every turn.
My passion for travel began when I started showing my foreign friends around my country. Their reactions - surprise at the welcome, at how much of the old world is still standing, at a country they had only seen through headlines - made me realize that the travelers who see Iraq firsthand are its best ambassadors.
In 2016 I founded Iraqi Journeys with Ali with one aim: to show the world the Iraq I grew up in. Not the headlines - the cities and marshes and mountains, and the way people here treat a guest.
Today, I've led over 70 tours, hosted more than 1,500 travelers from 20+ countries, and explored every corner of my homeland. There's no place in Iraq I don't know, no story I can't tell, and no traveler I can't welcome like family.
